Our School, A Tradition Since 1975

The Child Comes First

The Montessori School of San Diego is dedicated to the philosophy "The Child Comes First.” We bring to the classroom something fresh each day, from which the children can see and feel and grow. We remember that each and every child needs and deserves respect, and that is why a Montessori teacher will speak to the child respectfully and discipline is low-key.

This dedication of Montessori teachers, especially our teachers, is what makes this philosophy applicable and so valuable. We have an excellent reputation, and the administration will always strive to maintain it by employing only the best and most dedicated teachers.

Our Students

The Montessori School of San Diego encourages inclusion of a diverse group of students from many different walks of life. Children from every ethnic and religious background, as well as social family structures, are welcome.

A high percentage of entering children will find the Montessori classroom an easy place to transition. Because of the mixture of ages in the classroom, half to two thirds of the students are returning and therefore can model the behavior and classroom routine for the new, younger children. Those children who have a more difficult time entering a new environment are nurtured by both the older students and the teachers. Soon after the beginning of the school year, observers witness an efficient, self-directed classroom emanating a peaceful hum of activity.

“We sent both of our sons to Montessori School of San Diego. In our experience, the positive value and importance of this school cannot be over stated. The teachers and administration have built a microcosm of what is best about the young school age experience. The children at this school truly have a love of learning and an interest in the world around them. The teachers also foster positive social development that increases the self-confidence of their students. If you want a school where the teachers really care about the children in their classroom, this is it, hands down.”
